Every part has three levels. Here is how that works for note reading.
Root Note helps you play the piano better: you learn to read, play, hear and understand music, and you see how it all comes together. You practise in short, focused sessions and see right away what is going well and what still needs work.
Read: notes, chords and rhythms on the staff. Play: chords and scales, with both hands. Hear: train your ear with intervals. Understand: nine chapters of music theory and an interactive circle of fifths. Every exercise trains more than one skill.
Connect your digital piano or MIDI keyboard and Root Note hears what you play instantly: you actually play the notes, chords and scales. No piano or keyboard at hand? Then simply answer the questions on your screen, on your phone, tablet or computer.
A short self-test sets each exercise to a level that suits you. My progress shows whether you are ready for the next level, what to practise next and how your reading speed grows. A daily goal you choose yourself helps you keep practising.
Practising is free: no account, no installation, no ads. Root Note works in any modern browser, and offline after your first visit. Your progress stays on your own device. Want to go further? Root Note volgt de richtlijnen voor toegankelijkheid (WCAG 2.2, niveau AA). Je kunt alles met het toetsenbord bedienen, een schermlezer leest vragen, antwoorden en goed of fout voor, tekst is te selecteren en te vergroten, en Licht en Donker hebben voldoende contrast. Met "verminderde beweging" aan op je apparaat staan de animaties stil.
Wat bewust niet kan: noten lezen is een visuele oefening, dus de notenbalk van een vraag wordt niet voorgelezen (dat zou het antwoord verraden). De oefeningen op het gehoor werken wel helemaal met een schermlezer.
